Motorola FX7400 RFID Reader

Easy to deploy, use, and manage, Motorola’s high performance FX7400 series of fixed RFID readers is ideally suited for global enterprise deployments in space-constrained, customer-facing environments. It boasts a compact design married with a set of highly integrated, enterprise features including: auto-discovery and application-specific set-up for ease of installation; power over Ethernet (POE) to eliminate the need for costly power drops; and advanced features for secure data transmission.

Application: Airport Baggage Handling

Challenge: Conventional airport baggage tracking systems typically have identification rates of <90% meaning too many bags are manually handled. RFID systems deliver much higher read rates, however the RFID readers stations currently available are large, expensive and complicated to install. They also require expensive shielding, similar in size to x-ray machines in airports.

Solution: A Times-7 SlimLine Reader Station combines leading RFID readers with Times-7's SlimLine antenna to produce a small, compact unit which is quick and easy to install, and provides read rates of 99.9% at one quarter the price of competitive offerings. The antennas are engineered to use just 10% maximum RF energy output. They optimize read patterns enabling RFID bag labels to be read in any orientation. This eliminates any need for expensive tunnels and curtains.
