ANIMAL IDENTIFICATION WITH RAIN RFID

ANZCO AUTOMATES LIVESTOCK MANAGEMENT USING TIMES-7 ANTENNAS

Five Star Beef, owned by ANZCO Foods, one of New Zealand’s largest exporters of beef and lamb, recently completed trials tracking livestock using RAIN RFID. First results prove groundbreaking reliability and accuracy.

IMPORTANCE OF ANIMAL IDENTIFICATION

An uninterrupted system of identification supports disease management, global food traceability and customer confidence. While Low-frequency (LF) RFID is the global standard, farm managers are currently experiencing difficulties recording their livestock’s movements safely and efficiently.

RAIN RFID OUTPERFORMS LF RFID

Times-7 helped set up a RAIN RFID enabled gantry at a feedlot with robust and reliable high-gain antennas. Over several months large groups of tagged cattle were run through it. The results show that RAIN RFID outperforms LF in many ways.

LONGER READ RANGE, MORE READS

RAIN RFID technology brings the following benefits to Animal Identification:

  • High accuracy and reliability in reading single animals and in mobs
  • Distance reading reduces stress and prevents accidents for livestock
  • Improved health & safety for workers while keeping distance from the animal
  • Significant reduction of process time
